Women in Cyber Security Middle East (WiCSME)

The Women in Cyber Security Middle East (WiCSME) was founded in 2018 by nine women from the Middle East region and has now grown to almost 3000 members from 23 countries. 

The ‘Women in Cyber Security Middle East’ group was formed to promote and increase women participation in the field of cyber security. It is a voluntary group and has a vision to build a strong, dependable, and increasing network of passionate female cyber security professionals in the Middle East and African countries.

WiCSME aims to achieve this by:

GASA

The Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) is a non-profit organization committed to the protection of consumers from scams. By fostering collaboration among a diverse group of stakeholders, including policymakers, law enforcement agencies, consumer authorities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the financial sector, cybersecurity experts, and commercial organizations, GASA aims to create a unified network against scams. The organization’s efforts are focused on sharing valuable insights and developing strategies to combat fraudulent activities effectively.

One of GASA’s key annual initiatives is the production of the “Global State of Scams” report, which offers a comprehensive overview of scam trends worldwide, alongside numerous localized reports tailored to various countries. Additionally, GASA hosts the Global Anti-Scam Summit (GASS), a significant event that brings together experts and stakeholders from around the world to discuss and strategize on anti-scam measures. With plans to expand its reach by establishing chapters in Brazil, Africa, and Asia, GASA is dedicated to making significant strides in the global fight against scams, protecting consumers and businesses alike from the evolving threats posed by scammers.

Women4Cyber

Women4Cyber is a non-profit European foundation with the goal of encouraging and promoting the skilling, up-skilling, and re-skilling of girls and women towards cybersecurity education and professions. With chapters across Europe, Women4Cyber facilitates capacity-building activities to support women’s participation and growth in the cybersecurity field.

Women4Cyber endorse and collaborate in Cyber Capacity Building projects that promote gender inclusivity, skills development, cultivate a cybersecurity culture, and contribute to cyber diplomacy.

Truesec

Truesec is an international company that focuses on cybersecurity, ranging from Incident Response and IT infrastructure to Secure development, Threat Intelligence and Detection. The HQ is located in Stockholm, Sweden.

The company was established in early 2005 and quickly took a key position in the Swedish market. Today, Truesec consists of over 300 dedicated cyber specialists in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Germany – covering the full spectrum of cybersecurity.

Truesec have handpicked their team to provide a mix of expertise and experience. A variety of specialized competences gives them the ability to have a holistic understanding. With its composition of experts, Truesec understands how cybersecurity, infrastructure, and secure development must work together to achieve a balanced security level.

Defensylab

DEFENSY, founded in 2020, is a Tunisian cybersecurity firm dedicated to protecting clients’ digital assets. Partnering with leaders across industries, they offer Offensive Security, GRC, SOC and CSIRT services.

Defensylab’s focus is on Cyber Capacity Building (CCB), empowering individuals and organizations to enhance their cyber resilience. Through collaborative initiatives, they provide the knowledge and resources needed to mitigate cyber threats effectively.

Defensylab’s CCB projects include:

  1. Training and Workshops: Tailored programs covering cybersecurity essentials.
    • In June 2023, Defensylab co-organized “RAISE YOUR GUARDS!” to raise awareness of cybersecurity risks.
  2. Policy Development: Assisting in crafting robust cybersecurity policies aligned with international standards.
  3. Capacity Building Programs: Strengthening cyber resilience through partnerships with universities and associations.
    • In December 2023, Defensylab co-organized I-PROTECT V6, providing workshops on cyber resilience.
  4. Research and Innovation: Investing in projects like IGIDER and CXSOAR to address emerging cyber threats.
  5. Master Cyber Security and Operation M2: Collaboration with the University of Sfax and the Faculty of Science of Sfax on a co-constructed M2 Professional Master’s program in Cyber Security and Smart Industry.

Through their dedication to Cyber Capacity Building, Defensylab aims to create a secure digital world.

Clingendael Institute

At Clingendael Academy, the cyber team organises, coordinates and implements knowledge exchange and on-site or online training courses on cyber security and -diplomacy.

With their training courses Clingendael Academy aims to contribute to the professional development of diplomats and other professionals operating in the international cyber domain.

The Clingendael Training Method combines relevant content, skills-based training, and application to the professional context of specific training audiences. The courses cover a range of cyber issues related to cyber threats, challenges, opportunities, and policy solutions that are relevant to the group. What can these professionals do to contribute to security and stability in the international cyber domain?

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI)

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) established a specialized Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in The Hague, The Netherlands, in 2017. The Centre’s mission is to advance understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and related technology with a special focus on the aspects of crime, justice and other threats to security.

Other areas of research include setting responsible limits on facial recognition technology, the dual nature of AI to support counter-terrorism activities and its potential to be misused by malicious actors.
