GFCE’s Tereza Horejsova appointed as a member of the IGF MAG, through community nominations
At a critical year of 2025, in which the future of the Internet Governance Forum will be decided, and in which there is very limited time available of preparation of the next event in Norway, the Multistakeholder Advisory Group appointments have been done differently than usual. This year’s MAG draws on previous experienced members. They were selected based on nominations from the MAG community. The Group advises the UN Secretary General in preparations of the annual events.
Tereza Horejsova, GFCE’s Senior Outreach Manager, served as a MAG member in the years of 2020 – 2023. When asked about getting on the team again, she said: “I have always had a sweet spot for the IGF because I see a tremendous value in having a forum for discussion which can really shape the hot issues in Internet governance, digital policy and cybersecurity and where all stakeholders can engage in a dialogue. This exchange and dialogue is a prerequisite for informed policy making on very complex issues.”
For the GFCE, the IGF is definitely a space to follow. Not only to engage with the rich multistakeholder community but also to further explore and build on discussions at the IGF for GFCE’s activities. In particular, the Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building (GC3B), hosted by Switzerland in Geneva in May 2025, will touch upon many topics that have been crucial at IGF discussions, especially related to development aspects of cybersecurity resilience, as well as capacity building. Tereza adds: “We want to carefully consult previous discussions on these issues and bring them to the GC3B, as well as engage in Oslo with a follow-up.”
This year’s IGF will take place in Oslo, Norway in June, just a few months after December’s event in Riyad, Saudi Arabia.
