Ms. Cristina Camacho-Teran is an Ecuadorian career diplomat, who has served her country, since 2000, in several posts. She has had the privilege to represent Ecuador, emerging as an adept facilitator with a remarkable talent for building intercultural bridges. Her extensive experience has equipped her with a profound expertise in international cooperation, and she is passionately committed to advancing global cybersecurity capacity building.
Throughout her career, she has consistently demonstrated a keen ability to align national priorities with strategic international collaboration opportunities. Her diplomatic service includes postings at the Embassies of Ecuador in Washington, D.C., Peru, and Belgium. In 2018, during her tenure as Chief of Staff to the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs in Ecuador, she actively engaged in pioneering discussions on cybersecurity at a policy level.
Since 2019, as Head of Cooperation at the Mission of Ecuador to the EU, she has navigated complex international partnerships, working closely with different stakeholders both within the European Union, the Council of Europe, governments, agencies and other relevant actors. As the main liaison, she has successfully arranged cooperation initiatives that have significantly enhanced Ecuador’s resilience to various security challenges.
This hands-on experience has not only expanded her professional network but also deepened her conviction in the critical importance of innovative public-private partnerships. She is a firm believer in the need to usher in a new era of cooperation—one that integrates a wide range of stakeholders and forges meaningful, impactful connections.
As a proud Latin American woman, she is eager to bring a fresh, dynamic perspective to the Board and to contribute meaningfully to advancing the Foundation’s mission.
On a personal note, as spouse and mother of twin teenagers, she is a passionate advocate for the balance between professional and personal lives, as a key factor for success and fulfillment.
