Akhil joined the GFCE Secretariat in November 2023 as a Project Officer within the Projects and Programmes Pillar.
Akhil’s responsibilities include the entire lifecycle of a project, from concept development and fundraising to planning, execution, and evaluation. Part of his mandate is also to cultivate relations with donors and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the GFCE’s initiatives. With a background in international project management, Akhil has experience coordinating multi-thematic projects across different political and cultural contexts. Prior to joining the GFCE, he was a team member at the global digital rights organization, Access Now. There, he worked on several tech policy issues and was instrumental in implementing programmatic operations for the Asia Pacific regional policy team. Akhil holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics from Loyola College, Chennai, and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Global Corporations and Policy from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, where his dissertation explored the surge of digital repression in Sub-Saharan Africa.
