Release of the GFCE Annual Report 2021

The GFCE is delighted to present its Annual Report. 2021 was a year of growth and maturation with great engagement from the GFCE community in global and regional events. Last year saw the GFCE supporting and implementing a wide range of initiatives and projects, with a special focus on strengthening regional coordination efforts and further enhancing collaboration within the GFCE Community.

In 2021, despite the ongoing challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple achievements brought the GFCE’s work forward, including the launching of the GFCE-OAS Regional Hub; the scoping phase of the GFCE Pacific Hub; the establishment of the Cybil Steering Committee; the AU-GFCE collaboration, and the inaugural GFCE Southeast Asia Regional Meeting.

These successes could not have been achieved without the contributions of the GFCE Members and Partners and their involvement within several structures of the GFCE ecosystem. Last year, the GFCE Community welcomed 31 new stakeholders, making a total of 157 Members and Partners.

Alongside the invaluable contribution from the GFCE Community, the GFCE Working Groups supported the practical implementation of cyber capacity building initiatives, providing their input on the research projects commissioned through the Research Agenda mechanism.

The Cybil knowledge portal experienced a steady growth of new users with a 20 % increase of new projects added to the Cybil repository compared to 2020. Furthermore, together with a team of designers and developers, the Cybil Portal team implemented improvements and new features to the portal and a beta version of Cybil 2.0 was launched in December 2021.

Furthermore, the GFCE facilitated international and regional collaboration by coordinating different initiatives such as the Women in International Security and Cyberspace Fellowship, the Cyber Financial Inclusion Working Group and the GFCE Women in Cyber Capacity Building.
