Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) are the two latest members of the GFCE, bringing the total membership to 54. Both organizations introduce themselves.
CTO
The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) is the oldest and largest Commonwealth intergovernmental organisation in the field of information and communication technologies, in which Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth governments, industry and academia are members. Since its establishment in 1901, the CTO has been promoting the use of ICTs for development through capacity building, technical assistance, advisory services and international conferences. Its work in Cybersecurity includes the development of the Commonwealth Cybergovernance Model, developing National Cybersecurity Strategies, assisting to tackle Cybercrime and promoting Cyber standards. The CTO aims to contribute to the global efforts to build a safe, secure and resilient Cyberspace.
OSCE
With 57 participating States, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the largest regional organization in the world spanning almost the entire northern hemisphere. In the field of cyber/ICT security a key focus lies on the development and implementation of confidence building measures (CBMs) between participating States to reduce the risks of conflict stemming from the use of ICTs. To this end promoting activities that enhance overall national cyber capacities which also allow States to engage in this process and apply the CBMs on the national and sub-regional level are of particular interest, and a principal driver for joining the GFCE. Apart from the cyber CBMs, OSCE activities also focus on building expertise and capacities to tackling cyber enabled crimes and the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes, which seek to create synergies with other organizations and entities working in these fields
