Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)

Member Description: With 57 participating States, the Organization for Security Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the largest regional organization in the world spanning almost the entire northern hemisphere. It addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, national minorities, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities.

Focus on Specific Topics:

  • A key focus of the OSCE is the development and implementation of confidence building measures (CBMs) between participating States to reduce the risks of conflict stemming from the use of ICTs.
  • OSCE activities also focus on building expertise and capacities to tackling cyber enabled crimes and the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes as well as the protection of fundamental freedoms online.
