India will host fifth GCCS in 2017

Today it was announced that India will be the host of the fifth edition of the Global Conference on Cyber Space (GCCS) in 2017. The Netherlands has officially handed over the Global Conference on Cyber Space to India. IT and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad stated: “India has been selected for hosting Global Conference on Cyber Space (GCCS) in 2017. It is recognition of India’s emerging role as big cyber power accelerated by Digital India which has gained international fame.”

About the Global Conference on Cyber Space
The past cyberspace conferences were organized in London (2011), Budapest (2012), Seoul (2013) and the Hague (2015). These cyberspace conferences are sometimes referred to as the “London Process” or since the conference in the Hague as the “Global Conference on Cyber Space”. The GCCS will deliberate on issues related to promotion of cooperation in cyberspace, norms for responsible behaviours in cyberspace and to enhance cyber capacity building.
The conference in India will likely be held in the last quarter of 2017, but the government will decide on venue and dates for it shortly, an official said.
Update: the GCCS 2017 will take place on 23-24 November 2017 in New Delhi.
